IMPERIAL WHITE
SPINED OYSTERS
(SH-43 )

South Pacific , 11" x 14"

Spondylus or Spiny Oysters are a widely divergent genus of bivalve mollusks, all of which share the singularly identifiable characteristic of a covering of spines or thorns.

They have an illustrious history of being collected by Europeans as far back as 5000 years ago, and as a medium of exchange in pre-Columbian Ecuador.
