Dayflying Moths 11x14 (SGL-19)

Thailand, Laos, 11" x 14"

The small family of dayflying moths known as Zygaenidae is often adorned with bright, metallic colors that serve to advertise their toxicity. Unlike most toxic insects, the hydrogen cyanide that Zygaenidae contain is not obtained from the poisonous plants upon which they feed, but is actually produced by the insects themselves.

The three species used are among the largest and most ornate of the entire family.
